TV & Radio Polls: Livni Up by 10%

Exit Polls predict Livni win in Kadima primary to become PM

Israel's ruling Kadima Party voted for a new leader Wednesday, choosing between Tzipi Livni, a popular foreign minister who would be the nation's first woman prime minister in more than 30 years, and Shaul Mofaz, a gruff ex-general who favors a tough line against Iran, Syria and the Palestinians.

In the exit polls released by Israel's three major news channels on Wednesday evening, minutes before the polls were set to close, Livni had achieved between 47 and 49 percent of the votes, with Mofaz trailing with 37 percent. The exit polls awarded the two other candidates, Meir Sheetrit and Avi Dichter, 7 percent each.
